    Quarterly Unstuck Church Report

For 14 years, I had the honor of serving on the senior leadership teams of Granger Community Church, NewSpring Church and West Ridge Church.

During that season of ministry, I started a blog (then called Tony Morgan Live) to share about the ministry and leadership challenges that we were facing in hopes I could encourage other ministry leaders. I often shared behind the scenes insights into the questions our senior leadership team was wrestling with, like issues of multisite and organizational structure. Over the years I also published a number of books and ebooks on related topics.

My experience and writing often focused on having a clear strategy for ministry—a word few churches were embracing at the time. At the request of those who were regularly reading my blog content and books, I decided to expand this work to include coaching networks in 2008.

These coaching networks were often comprised of 8-10 leaders meeting together frequently for a 9-12 month period. They required a big investment of time and resources for both churches and their leaders.

As time went on, there were an increasing number of pastors who were no longer interested in the coaching network model, but instead, asked if I could come to their church and help them specifically. At first, I thought the answer they needed was more strategy. But what I heard over and over again was that they were just feeling “stuck.”

Transitioning to a Full-Scale Process

As I felt the needs of pastors shifting, I started serving churches by engaging in an on-site consulting process. In 2009, I was able to personally serve 10 churches—but more were requesting help getting unstuck than I could serve alone. So, I started building a team and developing a unique process that could help many more churches get unstuck.

Today, The Unstuck Group has 15+ consultants serving churches in North America and beyond, and over 500 churches have completed what we now call “the Unstuck process.”

We believe God desires that every church lives out its purpose at the pinnacle of sustained health. Our Unstuck process is rooted in that belief, and we filter every aspect of our work through the lens of helping churches find health and effectiveness.

As we ramped up our consulting work, the need for coaching networks phased out—I knew that this consulting process was a better solution for helping pastors who wanted to grow healthy churches, and I also felt a decline in interest and shift away from the coaching network model on a larger scale (and yes, we tried to do them virtually, but they simply weren’t the same!).

Helping More Churches Get Unstuck

Alongside our consulting services (which now include staffing structure, multisite consulting, merger consulting, digital ministry strategy, and more), we’ve also developed a tool for pastors who want to invest in their own personal leadership development: the Unstuck Learning Hub

The Unstuck Learning Hub is a one-stop-shop for all of our best resources to help churches get unstuck, including all of my ebooks, online courses, masterclasses, and more. We even have an exclusive Facebook group where pastors can connect with me and my team one-on-one.

As time goes on, we continually work to refine and improve our church consulting processes, speaking and training for pastors, and online ministry training tools to serve churches’ needs better. It’s a spiritual endeavor of coming together as a ministry team to clarify where God’s called your church to go and how you’re going to get there.

Most organizations start, grow, thrive, lose momentum, decline and eventually end—but that doesn’t have to be your church’s story. Learn how our Unstuck Process can help you get unstuck.
