Our mission is to help churches get unstuck.

We help pastors lead thriving churches by guiding them to focus vision, strategy, team and action.

With every tool and process we develop, our priority is to help churches help people meet and follow Jesus.

Our Story

For 14 years, Tony Morgan served on the senior leadership teams of Granger Community Church, NewSpring Church and West Ridge Church. In that season, he started writing about leadership at tonymorganlive.com, while also authoring books and articles featured by Catalyst, Pastors.com and the Willow Creek Association.

His experience and writing often focused on having a clear strategy for ministry—a word few churches were embracing at the time.

In 2008, he started coaching pastors across the country. Through these coaching relationships, a theme became clear: Pastors felt stuck. In the following year, Tony was able to serve 10 churches, but more were requesting help getting unstuck than he could serve alone. So, he started building a team and developing a process that could help many more churches get unstuck.

Most organizations start, grow, thrive, lose momentum, decline and eventually end. We believe God desires that every church lives out its purpose at the pinnacle of sustained health. Our process is rooted in that belief, and we filter every aspect of our work through the lens of helping churches find health and effectiveness.

The Unstuck Group has served 400+ churches in the years since Tony first ventured out, and we continually work to refine and improve our church consulting processes, coaching for pastors, and online ministry training tools to serve churches’ needs better. It’s a spiritual endeavor of coming together as a ministry team to clarify where God’s called your church to go and how you’re going to get there.

The Unstuck Way

These nine principles characterize the way we think and how we train every member of our team to serve you.

We understand the majority of pastors say they are discouraged. We will take every opportunity to bring your church leaders hope and encouragement.

Everything we do starts with prayer. We rely on guidance and wisdom from the Holy Spirit, and then trust that God is at work through the process. He is the one who renews minds and changes hearts.

When we prepare to serve a church, we aim to empty ourselves, which means we need to be spiritually full going in. We are committed to relying on God’s wisdom and strength, rather than our own.

We use all the tools at our disposal to be prepared for our time with you. This includes devoting time to prep work in advance, and connecting with the other consultants on the team so that we are unified and connected as a team.

We facilitate, asking questions and more questions. We aim to help your church come to your own solutions. We believe our job is to draw out the wisdom of the team.

We recognize every church has unique ingredients. Our desire is to help you discover what’s distinctive about your ministry and mission.

We aren’t afraid of clarifying reality even if it’s going to cause some pain initially. Even though leaders in the church might be sensing what is wrong, we know sometimes an outside voice can bring more weight and urgency to the issues you’re facing. We won’t shy away from that responsibility.

We believe our role is to bring clarity to what’s most important. We don’t want to bury you in tasks or leave you overwhelmed. We will help you prioritize what’s most important and take strategic action.

We value strategic action. The win isn’t the plan. The win is movement, change and execution—helping you make a lasting kingdom impact.
