    Quarterly Unstuck Church Report

connections pastorWe’ve just released the newest sample job description available in the resources section. This new job description is for a Connections Pastor. Think connecting people to the church (“First Impressions”), serving (volunteer teams) and growing (groups or classes).

If the Senior Pastor and Worship Pastor are responsible for the weekend services, the Connections Pastor is responsible for helping people take their next steps beyond the weekend. It’s a critical role for churches.

Several years ago, this position might have been titled the Pastor of Assimilation. I’m not a fan of that title. Number one, people generally don’t know what it means. Secondly, people don’t want to be “assimilated,” but they’d love your help connecting to others. Finally, the abbreviations for Connections Pastor are a lot more palatable than the Pastor of Assimilation. (Just throwing in a bit of pastoral humor.)

If you’re interested, the complete set of job descriptions now includes:

  • Connections Pastor
  • Senior Pastor
  • Communications Director
  • Executive Pastor
  • Campus Pastor

We have more on the way. But, if you’re looking for a specific position that’s not currently available, let us know in the comments.
