    Quarterly Unstuck Church Report

Church Trends from the Q2 2019 edition of The Unstuck Church Report

You probably won’t be surprised to read this, but we’re seeing a significant shift in attendance patterns.

Not only are people inviting guests to church less often, but people are attending church less often.

For churches to experience growth, their number of first-time guests over a 12-month period needs to be equal to or greater than their average weekly attendance.

In other words, a church of 1,000 people should have at least 1,000 first-time guests to maintain… rather than only 520, which is what this reporting period is showing us.

At this rate, it’s looking like Church attendance is on the decline, which is actually the data we’re seeing as well.

The Unstuck Church Report is released every quarter and features our most updated data in the areas of ministry reach, connections, finances, and more.

Of 858 churches who completed the leadership team version of the Unstuck Church Assessment in the last 12 months, 88% were on the right side of the life cycle. And, a record low of less than 1% landed in sustained health.

While this isn’t encouraging data, I’m encouraged that we can actually show churches this data, bringing awareness to stuckness, and bringing hope for next steps.
